Hi everyone! My name is Michela but you can call me Miky! I moved here to Brooklyn from my home town in Brisighella, Italy, right outside Tuscany, after I graduated from University of Bologna. I live in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, with my husband and son, in my husband's grandfather 100 years old house. My prospective of food is ancient and respecful of each ingredient I manage, as my grandparents taught me. I decided to start Eatwith because I want to share a different food prospective of what you are used to see in restaurants in NY. In fact, if you want a “feel like home” experience this is the right one for you. My food is hearty, handmade, and each dish will tell you a different story from my country. We had an excellent time at Michela's and Joe's. The food was great, along with the explanations Michela shared about each item. And it was both delicious and ample. Beyond, that, they were most gracious hosts to my wife and I and the other 3 Eatwith guests. We all spent 3 hours together and the time went by so quick. Nice to quickly get to know all who attended and have animated confersation. First time using Eatwith and it was a great alternative to doing the usual thing when we visit NYC of going to restaurant. Heartily recommend it -- and Michela's hosting in particular. (all 5 star)
The 4 course meal was delicious and the company was great! We started with a selection of Italian cheeses & some of Michela’s home made sour dough bread. It was hard to stop eating it but we knew we had to save room for the rest of the dinner. The saffron pistachio sauce on the home made pasta was amazing. Shrimp, scallops & edamame in phyllo cups was the perfect entree for my pescatarian daughter. Strawberries & mascarpone cheese for dessert was just the right touch! I would highly recommend this culinary experience!
Michela cooked for my husband and I on the night of her own birthday, which just goes to show how passionate she is about cooking and hosting. The food was fresh and seasonal and we especially loved her homemade spinach pasta. She and Joe are welcoming hosts who will make you feel right at home. Thank you for a lovely meal!
