I was born and raised in a family that had great (and still has great!) passion and appreciation for cooking and food, and having owned a restaurant in former Yugoslavia, everyone in my family knows how to use the stove.
But aside from this, almost everyone in Bosnia at that time was brought up with a firm belief that cooking should be at the center of family life. Food is meant to bring people together, and it's meant to be enjoyed with company. Family bonding occurred right there at the table, so let's just say that most of my childhood memories are tasty ones.
I welcome you as the Bosnians do - when you enter my home you enter my heart. I believe in the magical power of the dining table. If you visit someone's home in Bosnia, you can't leave unless you've eaten their food. I can promise you the same once you've entered my home. I am so grateful I get to share something so precious to me as my heritage on the plate.
My home is a charming brownstone in West Harlem, filled with handmade furniture including reclaimed wood over 100 years old - woodwork is my husband's (and co-host's) very much loved hobby! We hope you will feel that warm, good energy in our home, this was our goal for guests when designing our space. EatWith has brought us so much joy and fulfillment.
