4-COURSE HUNGARIAN SUMMER DINNER

Hungarian Farmer's Plate

They are bites which are called as soldiers in Hungarian. They consist of a piece of homemade bread, and then some meat paté or spicy curd cheese (körözött) or pork crackling. We serve these bites with typical Hungarian vegetables: sweet and hot pepper, slice of onion or fresh radish. This bites go well with Hungarian fruit brandy (palinka). This drink is very strong, so it can do harm very easily but this finger food helps.

Sour Cherry Soup

This is a typical summer soup in Hungary. When the temperature is very high this soup gives a fresh feeling for you. Sweet and sour taste are in a plate.

Chicken Paprikas with Dumpling and Homemade Pickles

This is one of the most famous Hungarian dish next to the Goulash and Stew. Soft chicken pieces, silky sauce and tiny homemade pasta . And it is just the cherry on top of the cake my mother's pickles which gives a fresh taste to this main course.

Gundel Pancake

This is famous dessert which is known by everybody in Hungary. There is a light pancake with a unique filling: creamy sweet walnuts. It is served with chocolate cream and whipped cream. Come and taste it!

In short the evening was fabulous. We started with real surprise of Marti's family's homemade pálinka. Tasty and quite a kick. The starter was a sampler of two different sausages, peppers, and cheeses. Goulash soup and chicken paprikash followed, both beyond delicious and not what a westerner would think of for these two dishes. Dessert was a multi-layered walnut, fig and chocolate tort. Marti is very welcoming and will gladly answer all your questions about the food, ingredients, and other recommendations on Budapest and Hungary. She was very specific from what region to buy your paprika. I am highly recommending Marti. What a treat.
